Die Cuttin Divas Challenge #75

Well this summer seems to be flying by for me!  July is over half over!  Even though my kids don't go back to school until after Labor Day (which is pretty late for most of us), I still feel like we don't have much summer left!  This week at Die Cuttin Divas we want to see your BEACH projects!  Sand, sun, ocean waves, crabs, sea gulls, buckets, shovels....anything you'd find on or at the beach, and remember you MUST use a die cut somewhere on your project :)
I just love using people on my cards!  My 2 favorite cartridges are Everyday Paper Dolls and Paper Doll Dress Up.  I LOVE the little people we can make!  I cut this girl from Everyday Paper Dolls and the beach ball from H2O.  I used PK-570 Basic Paper Doll Face Assortment (one of my new ones!!).  The kite is from Create a Critter.  I made my own background using the Peachy Keen PK-107 Cloudy Day stamp.  I think I'm finally getting the hang of it!  I used Memento ink.  I've tried a TON of different inks and this one seems to work the best.  I used D'Vine Swirl for the waves and Swiss Dots embossing folders for the sand.

Remember to link up your project HERE for a chance to win a Cricut Magazine!!

Baby Girl Shaker Card

I cannot tell you how happy I am with how this card turned out!  My sister needed a card for a friends baby shower.  The coworkers were throwing her a 'sprinkle' at work.  My first thought was a shaker card.  It did not turn out as 'sprinkly' as I imagined but I love love love it!

I got the digital stamp from May Brit's Hobbyblogg.  I wanted to find a super cute baby girl stamp and I could not pass this one up!  I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils and added stickles to her little blanket to sparkle it up a bit.
I used George and Basics to create the frame and embossed it with Swiss Dots.  The background red is embossed with D'vine Swirl and finally the ribbon is from Celebrate It!

I'm entering this card in the Fashionista Challenge #1 anything goes for girls

Die Cuttin Divas Tuesday Sketch Challenge!

WOW did I ever underestimate how much time I'd actually have during the summer to do my crafting! I cannot believe I am only able to really accomplish 1 project a week! I do however find myself really putting forth more effort in what I am able to put together. Like this card for instance. I am so incredibly happy with how it turned out!

This week is the weekly sketch challenge over at Die Cuttin Divas. I was so excited to work with this sketch because it's so gorgeous!

Here is the way I interpreted it!

I am so thrilled with how this card turned out! The sunflower is from Stretch Your Imagination. I embossed the middle with Swiss Dots, coated the pedals and stem with glossy accents and used Studio G glitter glue on the leaves. The background paper is all inked and I used D'vine Swirl embossing folder on the right side. The sentiment is from Peachy Keen Stamps (PK-288 Skunk Cheer Up Set), stamped with Technique Tuesday Chalk Ink Pads and the frame is from Gypsy Wanderings. I added some lady bug brads from the Eyelet Outlet and some adhesive pearls from Oriental Trading Company. The ribbon is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Lavish Trimmings and I inked it with his coordinating crushed olive distress ink. I machine stitched the edges for the final touches! Also the frame and sunflower are popped from the card with ek success 3D dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by. We'd love to see what you create from the provided sketch! Be sure to enter your project HERE for a chance to win this weeks great prize!!

Die Cuttin Divas July Sketch Challenge

Good morning friends! I cannot believe how busy I've been! I mean I was fully aware that my projects would be few and far between with school out but WOW, I have really been slacking! I'm on vacation this week so hopefully I can pull some more projects together!

This week though over at Die Cuttin Divas we had our monthly sketch challenge. I LOVE sketch challenges! and this one was just gorgeous! Take a look!

and here is what I decided to do!

I think my little card turned out adorable! I'm really happy with it!

All of the cuts are from Sweet Treats! I embossed the happy birthday layer with Swiss Dots folder and the circle with D'vine Swirl. I inked the edges of both flower layers and added some bakers twine. The ice cream sundae is popped from the card and I added stickles around the edge for some bling! I guess this really isn't a standard card since it doesn't open. I plan to cut another smaller flower layer in white, write my happy birthday note on it and then attach it to the back. This will most definitely be hand delivered :)

Hope you join us for our challenge this week! I'd love to see your take on the sketch. Click HERE to link up your project!!! Have a great week!

Beach Day

Oh am I loving doing these layouts! Today is a BONUS challenge over at Die Cuttin Divas and the winner will receive some fun goodies! The challenge is to create a summer/beach inspired project. I took this opportunity to make yet another layout. We live a mere 30 minutes from the 'big lake' (Lake Michigan) and are there very often in the summertime....so I am not short on beach pictures that need scrappin! Here is my project!

I had so much fun putting this together! I was browsing through my cricut books and just kept finding more elements to add! I inked basically the entire sun to give it a nice orange glow. I embossed the clouds and waves with the D'vine Swirl folder.

I tore the paper for the sand look and embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder. I love that I found a little sail boat in my stash of stuff! I thought it went perfectly!

This was a pretty simple layout. The pictures are even printed and ready to be glued down!

I can't wait to see what you come up with this week! Make sure you submit your project at Die Cuttin Divas for your chance to win some super fun goodies!!!

Sesame Street Friends cart - sand pail/shovel
Create a Critter cart - sun, clouds, sand castle
Designers Calendar cart - beach chair, umbrella
Plantin Schoolbook cart - waves
D'vine Swirl folder - clouds, waves
Swiss Dots folder - sand

A very late 1st birthday

I have some catching up to do....clearly! I'm just now doing a 1st birthday page for my 4.5 year old. Someone reassure me that some day I won't be 3 years behind!

I really enjoy doing layouts lately though, probably because I can get that much closer to filling the boys' albums! I decided to do this layout page because his 1st birthday was pretty generic (poor 3rd child). I didn't have a theme or do fancy invitations, so as you can see in the picture it was all about presents and cake! I wanted to use cuts that I could emboss as per the Whimsical Wednesday Happy Birthday Challenge. I am also entering it into the Paper Sundaes Challenge #69 Happy Birthday Christine!

I had a lot of fun with this layout! I would have normally only used 1 balloon (since he is only 1) but I thought that looked funny! I also stuffed some tissue paper behind the gift bag to make it look like a real gift :)

Sweethearts Cart - presents
George and Basic Shapes Cart - Sentiment
Create a Critter Cart - gift bag
Stretch Your Imagination Cart - balloons
Sweet Treats Cart - cake, candle
Swiss dots Cuttlebug folder - balloons, cake
D'vine Swirl Cuttlebug folder - cake
Candy Cane Stripe Cuttlebug folder - sentiment
Studio G Glitter Glue - candle flame

Let's not forget about Grandma!

I would like to thank my sister for reminding me that Grandmothers are mothers too :) She asked me to create a photo card for her mother in law and the picture inserts would have her grandchildren in them. So this is what I came up with!

Let's see.....the grass is from Create a Critter and welded together with the gypsy. The sunflower, and both greens are from Stretch Your Imagination. I just cut a circle from George and Basic Shapes for the inside of the sunflower since I did not want the face cut that came with the design. I embossed it with Swiss Dots to get the sunflower look. I also added a butterfly from Create a Critter to cover up the grasshopper on the tall grass. I thought the card needed a bit more pink! The sentiment is computer generated and punched with the Fiskars border punch. I added some buttons, ribbon and doodling. The inside of the card has a space for a special message and 4 photo inserts to hold 8 pictures. Any feedback is always appreciated! Happy Sunday :)

Tall Thank You Card

Hello fellow bloggers!  Finally the creative juices are flowing again thanks to yet some more inspiration.  Over at Cricut Cardz Challenge I was to create a tall 9x4 card using any cartridges and theme I wanted.  Since I had yet to create a flowery card I thought it was about time.  Here is what I came up with.

The card itself is just a basic rectangle and I just used some scraps that I had lying around.  I used the Recollections border punch on the sunflower paper.  The tall flower is from Stretch Your Imagination and I got the flower tag from Tags, Bags, Boxes & More.  I stamped the flower tag with my Stampendous block stamp.  It's hard to tell but I embossed the it with Swiss Dots and hung it with some bakers twine.  Really easy and basic but I think it totally fits my personality!  I just love it!

Good friends are like stars

Good morning!  I'm really hoping I can keep up with this blog and really concentrate on making some good, fun, creative things.  I'm loving all of these challenges I'm finding and subscribing to.  I've been having trouble just making cards out of thin air, without purpose.  And today was no exception, until I found the Peachy Keen Stamps Sketch Challenge: Think Bling!  The sketch was really no problem but with having 3 boys I have very little bling!  I actually rummaged through the kids craft bins and came up on some jewels and this is the card I came up with.

I've seen this sentiment on cards before and knew at some point I wanted to make my own.  So when I saw the sketch I thought it'd be a cute idea to make the circle, stars.  I gotta say I'm THRILLED with how this card turned out.

I took the stars from George and Basic Shapes and welded them together with my gypsy.  Then I embossed them with the Swiss Dots Folder.  The inside circle was from Just Because Cards.  I printed the sentiment on vellum and cut it with a star from George and Basic Shapes.  I added the ribbon per the sketch requirement and couldn't resist adding some faces to more stars with my Peachy Keen Everyday Character Stamps.  Finally I used my Recollections petite daisy border punch on the star paper and added the jewels for my bling.
