It's all about the shoes!

I have a bestie friend whose birthday is next week and each year we go to DSW shoe shopping with all of her birthday coupons. She is a shoe fanatic! She is a heals fanatic! She'd wear heals to work out if it were....well not so frowned upon. She came home a few months ago from the store with this gorgeous pair of animal print heals and I thought they were adorable! It gave me the perfect idea for a birthday card :) and I'm really happy with how it turned out!!! It's just really simple, but so HER!

I used Forever Young cart for the shoes and Recollections Animal Kingdom paper pack. The bling on the shoes is actually from Oriental Trading Company. I also added some glossy accents to the sole and heals :) The purple paper was cut with my Fiskars border punch, stamped with an Inkadinkado stamp I got out of the Michaels dollar bin, using Studio G ink. I added some bakers twine and a button for a little more decoration. I also inked the edges of the card itself.

I'm able to enter this card into the Paper Playtime Challenge #45 which was to create a tall card and Birthday Sundaes Challenge #9 which was to create a birthday card and add at least 3 circles (hopefully my bling counts!). I'm also entering it in the Paper Sundaes Challenge #69 Happy Birthday Christine which is to make a birthday creation!

Lastly I added it to the Patches of Pink Thursday Link Up Party!

Yet another Thank You Card

So as I was doing the 'guy thank you card' a few days ago I had simultaneously started a girly, frilly one! I mean how can you resist right?! Actually it was my 7 year old who thought of the idea. He saw me color the guy flowers blue and recommended I color them pink! and I'm so happy I did! I just love this little card! (well big card actually!) and as an added bonus I could enter it in Paper Sundaes Challenge #63 Spring Blossoms!

First I love love love pink and brown together! The card is 4x9. The floral stamp and sentiment are both from Inkadinkado. I used some prismacolor pencils to color in the flowers. The guy cards had stars and buttons on them but I had to think of something different for this one. The brown flower is from Imaginisce, Bitty Blossoms. I grabbed a button from my stash and some ribbon. The butterflies are from Create a Critter cut at 1.5 inches. I layered them and flared the wings. I'm glad I could finally finish this thing!

Another Thank You Card

Well the idea for this card was to try to make it as guy-ish as possible. Our Mother's Group is having a speaker come in (a guy) at our next meeting. I was trying so hard to make it simple but as you can see I can never resist 'stuff' all over my cards! I was also able to enter it into Amber's Crafts and Stuff Challenge #3 April Flowers.

I think this was the first time I didn't use a single cricut cut on a card! I decided to do a 9x4 card (or 4x9 if you will). Both the floral and Thank You stamps are from Inkadinkado. I used my prismacolor pencils to color in the flowers. The stars were cut with my Creative Memories star punch, 3 layers. I 'stitched' bakers twine around the buttons and just glued those to the stars. Any feedback would be appreciated.....is this too girly for a guy?!!!!

Happy 40th Anniversary!

I decided to tackle an anniversary card for my parents tonight since their big 40th is coming up on Saturday (mom don't look!). I was really going for a simple yet elegant looking card and here is what I came up with.

I used the Sweethearts cartridge for both the background frame (cut at 3.5 in) and the dove (cut at 1.5 in). The frame was stamped using the Inkadinkado Beauty Stems from Here set, and the sentiment is also from Inkadinkado. The dove and sentiment are pop dotted for dimension.

I've decided to enter this into the Paper Sundaes Challenge #60 'Keep it Simple'!. I gotta admit this was hard for me! I'm usually one to add and add and add until I went one step too far! I'm very happy with how this card turned out. Here's to 40 more years mom and dad! love you! xoxoxo

All a Flutter Challenge

It's another good beautiful morning, and for the 4th day in a row I actually had to wake my kids up for school!  Very unusual in my household!  I'm sure once the weekend gets here they will be back on schedule and waking up early again!

I've decided to participate in Getting Cricky with K Andrew Designs All a Flutter! Challenge and I had an absolute blast!  The challenge was to create any project with a butterfly or any other winged thing theme.  Of course I jumped all over using butterflies!  I have 3 boys so being able to make pretty purple girly themed cards is a special treat!  Here is what I came up with.

Although using a stamp was not required I felt the need to play along there too!  The stamp is from Inkadinkado, Beauty Stems from Here.  I just colored it in with some Prismacolor Pencils.  The butterfly was cut at 2 inches from Create a Critter.  I just glued the body of the top layer to the shadow layer, pop dotted the shadow and folded the wings of the top layer.  I inked the edges of both sheets of background paper and added doodling.  I really struggled with not adding a sentiment but I didn't want to over do it, not to mention I kind of ran out of room!  So I'll just call it an all purpose card!
